Joe Biden Misleads About His Healthcare Proposal Throughout Presidential Debate

Given Joe Biden’s inability to defend his own signature proposal, Democrats across the country will face increasing pressure to explain why they support a government takeover of our health care.

September 30, 2020

The issue of health care was front-and-center during the first presidential debate of 2020 – and Joe Biden repeatedly lied about the details of his own plan.

Despite costs skyrocketing since 2010, Joe Biden has proposed a government takeover of health care that goes far beyond ObamaCare. The so-called ‘public option’ would take more control away from patients and doctors and put it in the hands of Washington bureaucrats.

Biden didn’t accurately describe his own health-care plan… His signature proposal is to create a government-run, ‘public option’ plan which would be available for any American to purchase on the individual ACA marketplaces, alongside the existing private options. – Washington Post

Journalists who cover Biden also noted the discrepancies between what he said during the debate and how he previously described his plan.

The lies didn’t stop there. Joe Biden also used a misleading figure of Americans living with pre-existing conditions, which he’s been exposed for in the past:

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden claimed President Donald Trump’s effort in court to nullify the Affordable Care Act would ‘take 100 million people with preexisting conditions and move them in a direction where they can’t get coverage.’ But they wouldn’t all lose coverage, as the claim misleadingly suggests, barring highly unlikely circumstances. – Factcheck.org

Bottom line: Given Joe Biden’s inability to defend his own signature proposal, Democrats across the country will face increasing pressure to explain why they support a government takeover of our health care.
