Liberals in Congress are committed to increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour. An alternative plan that would allow for a lower minimum wage in rural areas has been squashed by the far-left Congressional Progressive Caucus:
Politico: “We want to pass a full $15 minimum wage bill. Not a regional bill. We’re very clear about that,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) said in an interview. “Being in Congress means leading, and we need to lead on minimum wage.”
Raising the minimum wage is a top agenda item for progressives and they plan to wield the influence of their nearly 100-member caucus to push the wage hike to a House vote.
