Much has been written about how the left has no leader at the helm of their rudderless ship, but that may be about to change. Netroots Nation, a major conference of liberal extremists, just announced who is headlining their gathering this year and it could be progressives ace-in the hole.
Just kidding…it’s Al Gore.
The same Al Gore that was Vice-President when Nirvana was releasing hit singles and was at the top of the ticket for liberals while Michael Jordan was lacing up his sneakerswith the Washington Wizards.
Having to roll out a washed-up politician who ran for President more than a decade-and-a-half and was first elected to office during the Carter Administration as the marquee attendee of a major event is the perfect metaphor for the state of the progressive movement in 2017. They have no fresh face, an outdated message, and no direction back to relevance.
That said, Gore is 9 years younger than current front-runner Bernie Sanders. Perhaps Gore 2020 isn’t so far-fetched.
