For a while, a $15 minimum wage was an idea that only existed among the fringes of the Democrat Party. But as BuzzFeed’s Ben Smith highlighted earlier this week, the Party has moved increasingly to the left thanks to the influence of self-avowed socialist Bernie Sanders, and with the party’s shift, this economically unfeasible idea has become a mainstream Democrat principle.

Yesterday, 30 Senate Democrats announced that they were co-sponsoring Sanders’ legislation to up the minimum wage to $15/hour, including four that are up for re-election in 2018 in states carried by President Trump. While their support of this job crushing proposal may fire up the rabid left-wing base, it is very problematic for their constituents who would see massive job losses as a result of this policy.

Workers across Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, and Michigan need to recognize that their current Senators have no problem passing legislation that puts their jobs in jeopardy, as long as it appeases Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and the far-left wing of the Democratic Party.
