As the Missouri legislature gets set to return this week for a special legislative session, an issue that needs to be addressed is finally protecting the paychecks of workers across the state.
For too long, special interests big labor groups have taken advantage of the system by automatically taking money from paychecks from working men and women in Missouri. As part of HB 251, crafted by Representative Jered Taylor, big labor groups would be required to get written permission from workers before deducting money from their salary.
Earlier this month, we highlighted why this idea is a no-brainer and now that Governor Greitens has called the legislature back for a special session, this is the time to finally address this issue.
The Governor and legislature cannot let this critical opportunity go to waste. They need to take advantage of this moment and look out for the best interest of the people that they represent.
That means rolling up their sleeves, getting to work, and passing crucial legislation that will help Missourians keep more of their hard-earned money in their own pockets instead of yet another unfair advantage for well-connected big labor bosses
