This week, Missouri Senate Democrats are stonewalling a “Republican proposal to require a photo ID to vote in Missouri.” For more than a decade, Missouri Republicans have been fighting to strengthen voting requirements, only to be stopped by a 2011 Governor Nixon veto.

Democrat Attorney General and gubernatorial hopeful Chris Koster, has yet to offer his thoughts on the pending Voter ID measure, but has a highly ambiguous past when it comes to the issue.

In 2006 then-state senator Chris Koster blocked a Democratic filibuster on a Voter ID law and then voted to pass that same measure. Then, in 2014, Koster reversed his stance and personally “lauded democrats” who blocked a Voter ID measure that he described as “ugly.”

Chris Koster’s wavering positions on Voter ID are yet another glaring example of his unapologetic hypocrisy. Koster should inform the citizens of Missouri where he stands on the voting measure, rather than continue to hide in the shadows from his inconsistent past policies.
