Democrats Buck Science As Health Officials Say Kids Can Safely Return to the Classroom

Democrat politicians should put aside their political agendas and do the right thing for kids in their states.

According to a report from The New York Times, federal health officials are now calling for students to return to school saying “in-person instruction can be carried out safely as long as mask-wearing and social distancing are maintained.”

The problem is Democrat governors across the country have kept states on lock down and prevented schools from enabling students to return to the classroom or participate in outdoor school sports.

In blue states like Michigan, Virginia, and Illinois, students are being kept at home at the hands of unavailing politicians who have failed to produce plans to reopen their schools or renew schools’ extracurricular activities.

“Governor Whitmer’s continued shutdown is hurting students across the state, and it’s becoming apparent that she is more concerned about serving on Biden’s inauguration committee rather than implementing a plan to open schools as medical experts have recommended,” said Tori Sachs, executive director of Michigan Rising Action.

“Gov. Northam is using students, parents and educators in his own contrived and whimsical social experiment. The people of Virginia deserve a Governor that will lead our Commonwealth with conviction and certainty, not a Magic 8 Ball.” – Virginia Rising Action

“Governor Pritzker continuously changed the metrics and moved the goal posts on the state’s mitigation plan for allowing students to participate in school sports. The result, Illinois children were prevented from playing school sports for almost a year. Illinois children and parents deserve a transparent and open process for getting children back to their extracurricular activities.” – Kayleen Carlson, executive director of Illinois Rising Action.

Pleas from health experts emphasizing the benefits of getting children back in school have fallen on deaf ears as Democrat politicians side with teachers unions and pursue their own agendas.

“Federal officials cited the many benefits of in-person schooling for children, and argued for prioritizing their educational, developmental and emotional and mental health needs. ‘Schools are an important source not just of education, but health and social services for children,’ Dr. Honein said.” – The New York Times

Bottom line: Democrat politicians should put aside their political agendas and do the right thing for kids in their states.
