Tom Steyer spent over $65 million on his “super PAC’s efforts to sway seven key gubernatorial and Senate races last year, though most of his favored candidates lost.” It is not surprising, then, that he is a member of Democracy Alliance, the liberal group that has “steered more than $500 million to favored groups” and requires its “liberal donors” to contribute at least $200,000 each year to those groups. Steyer and Democracy Alliance are gearing up for 2016.

Steyer, a “billionaire environmentalist,” is said to be leading the charge for Democracy Alliance “to spend big to elevate climate change”. But some of the group’s members are reportedly skeptical of Hillary Clinton, especially on climate issues, which means she will have to move even more to the left or potentially miss out on major funding from the liberal group.
